# Protocols

A protocol is a freely adopted agreement about how to be in relationship — how to make decisions together, share resources, hold conflict, and learn. Each protocol below carries all [three layers](/every-protocol-has-three-inseparable-layers.md) – accord, ritual, and critique & contemplation.
