# Connection and community

The connection and community area governs how the network cultivates belonging, shared identity, and the relational fabric that holds everything else together. This makes it one of the backbones of the whole of Fabric.

The protocols of this area focus on creating experientally rich connections internally and connecting to existing communities and their practices. They will be overlapping and interacting with [Care and support](/care-and-support.md) protocols.

This area is sketched at the principles level; its specific protocols remain to be developed.
